hawthorne bridge, soft focus
Since I was out and about with the soft focus lens the other day, I thought I'd try taking a few photos outside of the traditional soft-focus subjects. Those subjects being, in no particular order: a.) flowers, b.) aging celebrities, c.) babies, d.) classified or otherwise embarrassing documents, and e.) elves and other woodland folk. Of those, I only had flowers handy, so I had to branch out a bit further.
So I think I sort of understand now why you don't normally see soft focus photos of bridges. The results are kind of weird and Holga-esque though, so I figured I'd post a few anyway.

cherry tree, waterfront park
More soft focus fun, this time some cherry blossoms in Waterfront Park. They'll probably still be out for another week or so, although the fun's already over for the year in Terry Schrunk Plaza and Portland Center Park and probably most other spots around town.

spring (pink i)
Morning set, with a cheap Sima 100mm soft focus lens. Which is basically a single plastic(?) lens in a cheap plastic tube. It doesn't feel like a real lens; it feels like it maybe ought to be one of those gag lenses that's actually a squirt gun or something. It also doesn't really look much like a real lens, and it's only a matter of time before I get WTF-is-that questions, which I never enjoy. But hey, it's good for interesting photos of flowers, which is the main thing.
